Purpose of Event: Camden Harvest Fest

The Camden Harvest Fest is designed to provide Camden residents with a joyful and enriching experience, celebrating the spirit of giving and community. This event aims to educate attendees about healthy food choices available locally, promoting wellness within the community. Camden has faced numerous challenges, and the holidays often amplify the financial and emotional strain on many families. The Camden Harvest Fest is our way of expressing gratitude to our residents and demonstrating our appreciation through a communal, family-style dinner.

Attendees will be treated to live performances by talented Camden artists, adding to the festive atmosphere. Additionally, residents will receive a "Bag of Goodies," which includes a take-home dinner, essential resources, and valuable information. This event is not just about providing a meal for a day; it is about fostering a nourished and sustainable community, empowering residents to thrive long after the festivities.

Camden Harvest Overview

The Camden Harvest Fest is more than a celebration; it is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the critical issues of food insecurity and nutritional education in Camden. By combining healthy food preparation, cooking classes, healthy food tours, farm-to-table connections, and valuable resources, we are building a foundation for a healthier, more sustainable community. This festival is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that with the right support and resources, we can overcome the challenges of food deserts and create a brighter future for Camden.

What's in the Harvest Fest?

Addressing Food Desert

Camden has long struggled with limited access to fresh, healthy food. Many neighborhoods are classified as food deserts, where residents have little to no access to affordable and nutritious food. The Camden Harvest Fest tackles this issue head-on by providing a day of abundance and learning. Our event features a variety of locally-sourced, nutritious foods that demonstrate the delicious possibilities within reach.

Healthy Food Preparation and Cooking Classes

One of the core components of the Camden Harvest Fest is our series of cooking classes, led by local chefs and nutrition experts. These classes teach residents how to prepare healthy, balanced meals using ingredients that are readily available in their community. By offering practical, hands-on experience, we empower individuals with the skills and knowledge to make healthier food choices for themselves and their families.

Farm to Table Connections

Camden Harvest Fest also emphasizes the importance of farm-to-table connections. We bring together local farmers, food producers, and consumers to foster relationships that support the local economy and provide fresh, sustainable food to the community. By creating these direct connections, we help ensure that residents have access to high-quality, nutritious food straight from the source.

Food Delivery

Food Resources

Beyond the festival, we are committed to providing ongoing food resources to Camden residents. Attendees receive a "Bag of Goodies" that includes not only a take-home dinner but also information on local food banks, nutrition programs, and community support services. These resources are vital for sustaining the positive impact of the festival and ensuring that residents have continuous access to the support they need.
